How to connect to eduroam Wi-Fi (The Gordon)

Free Wi-Fi is available to all staff and students at The Gordon via our eduroam Wi-Fi network.

Choose your operating system below:

Android

Windows 10 or 11

MacOS

iOS (iPhone, iPad)

Chromebook

 

Android

Step 1)

Drag down from the top right corner of the home screen and open the short-cut menu.

 

Step 2)

Hold down selection on Wi-Fi, then select "eduroam" from the available networks.

    

Step 3)

Enter your student email address into the Identity field. (YourStudentNumber@gordontafe.edu.au)

Step 4)

Enter your Gordon password into the Password field.

Step 5)

At the CA certificate, select "Don't validate".

Step 6)

Tap  "Connect".

 

Windows 10 or 11

Step 1)

In the search box located on the task bar, Search "Settings" > "Network & Internet" > "Wi-Fi".

                            

Step 2)

Click on "Show available networks" then click eduroam and "Connect".

Step 3)

Enter your student ID number in the user name field, then your password into the password field (this password is the same one used for eCentral).

Click "Ok""Connect".

If you get a message "can't connect to this network" try a password reset

 

MacOS

Step 1)

Go to "Spotlight Search" in the top right hand top corner and type "Wi-Fi", then click on the Wi-Fi application.

Step 2)

Click on "Connect" next to "eduroam" in Other Networks.

Step 3)

Enter your student ID number into the Account Name field and password into the Password field. 

(This password is the same one used for eCentral and Gordon Online).

Step 4)

Click "Ok".

*If you get redirected to enter your details again, this is typically due to an incorrect password or student number entered try a password reset.

Step 5)

Click "Continue" on the certificate verification.

Step 6)

You may be prompted to approve the changes. Enter your MacBook username and password then select "Update Settings".

Step 7)

There should now be a tick next to "eduroam" under the sub-heading Known Network.

You are now connected to the eduroam Wi-Fi network.

 

iOS (iPhone, iPad)

Step 1)

Open the "Settings" app.

Step 2)

Click "Wi-Fi".

Step 3)

Click "eduroam" from the available networks.

Step 4)

Enter your student number into the "Username" field, then your password into the "Password" field.

Step 5)

Click "Join".

*If you get redirected to enter your details again, this is typically due to an incorrect password or student number entered. Try a password reset.

Step 6)

Click "Trust".

Step 7)

You should now have a tick next to "eduroam" this will confirm you are connected to the network.

 

Chromebook

Step 1)

Click on the Wi-Fi signal icon on the desktop bar, bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

 

Step 2)

Select eduroam from the list of available networks.

 

Step 3)

Once you’ve clicked on eduroam, a Join Wi-Fi network box will appear. 

Enter the following details:

 

SSID: Eduroam

EAP method: PEAP

Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2

Server CA certificate: Do not check

User Certificate: Not installed

Identity: StudentNumber@gordontafe.edu.au

Password: Your Gordon password (This password is the same one used for eCentral and Gordon Online).

Anonymous identity: Leave Blank

 

Tick the box "Save identity and password".

 

Step 4)

Click Connect. 

*If you don't get a successful connection, try a password reset, then try connecting again.
